Many students do not like to read. Several years ago I took my new 4th grade class to the media center. Michael came up to me and declared that he had found the shortest book in the library. I responded with a smile. By the end of the year, he was reading short chapter books. He loved Hank the Cowdog books. I think he probably read every one of them. He was even reading at home! I didn't try to force him to read other books. He developed a love for reading that year. I know he is grown now, but I hope he still enjoys reading.
